It was a late start to the year, but travel season is officially here! The CDC has given the green light if you’re fully vaccinated but you should still practice caution in public areas. So let’s get to it to find out our top places to visit in the United States.
New Orleans
The vibrant city of New Orleans is located in the south of the United States. Situated on the Mississippi River in Louisiana, the city features an intoxicating nightlife and exquisite southern cuisine, music, and culture. During Mardi Gras, the city is bursting at the seams with excitement. Crowds are dressed in eccentric costumes and colorful floats glide through the city to non-stop music. Although the city is known for its Mardi Gras celebrations, there’s so much more to experience. For those that prefer a more subdued NOLA holiday, there are tours of haunted houses, historic buildings, and swamps. Some must-see spots include the French quarter, WWII museum, museum of Art, Steamboat Natchez, Garden District, and City Park.
San Francisco
The northern Californian city of San Francisco is on the west coast of the United States. San Fran is home to one of the modern wonders of the world, the Golden Gate Bridge. Despite being built in 1937, the Golden Gate Bridge is still one of the most photographed bridges in the world. If you’re going to San Francisco….you can’t miss these key attractions. The Chinatown area is not only the oldest in North America, but it’s the biggest one outside of Asia. Check out the cultural and historic neighbourhood while chowing down on some authentic and mouth-watering chinese food. Another treat is to hop on the city’s cable car systems. It’s the only manually-run cable car left in the world and a simple way to go for a tour around town. After that, you can get your shopping on at Union Square, one of the biggest shopping and entertainment district in the U.S. Off the shores of San Fran, you can also visit Alcatraz, which housed many notorious inmates, including Al Capone.
Maui
Maui is the second largest polynesian island in Hawaii. It’s situated in the Pacific Ocean just west of the U.S. mainland. Maui is nicknamed the “Valley Isle” because it was formed when lava from two volcanoes came together. Most of the best places to see in Maui highlight it’s natural beauty. On the east side of Maui are the seven sacred pools of Ohe’o. Here you can take a dip in natural turquoise pools below stunning waterfalls and surround yourself with rainforests and trees made of bamboo. If you’re feeling active, you can go for a hike in Haleakala National Park. The hike is about 2 hours where you can take in breathtaking views at the summit and watch the sunrise. Among the many gorgeous beaches in Maui is Maluaka Beach or “Turtle town” which features many green sea turtles and tranquil waters.
Grand Canyon
Speaking of breathtaking views, when visiting the States, you should check out one of the seven natural wonders of the world, the Grand Canyon. The Grand Canyon National Park is located at the northwest corner of Arizona and it’s near Utah and Nevada. The crater itself is about 277 miles long, 18 miles wide, 1 mile deep, and it was carved out by the Colorado River deep below. The most popular area is the south rim which is near many hotels, lodges, and restaurants. If you fancy going camping, the colder northern rim has campgrounds and camping facilities. To get a good look at the crater, you can go to the west rim and walk around on the glass-bottom skywalk. In this region, there’s also whitewater rafting, rafting tours, and hiking trails.
New York City
Start spreading the news and visit the hustle and bustle big city of New York. New York City is on the northeastern side of the U.S. in the state of New York. With so many things to do in New York, it’s hard to limit yourself to just a few options. You can take a ferry to Liberty Island to tour the Statue of Liberty, take a stroll in Central Park, visit the Met museum, and sit atop of the Empire State building. However, you can’t leave New York without seeing Times Square. Located at Broadway and 7th, Times Square is one of the biggest entertainment districts with full-size colorful screens plastered all over buildings. There are performers, food trucks, and world-renowned cuisines all nearby the famous theatre district. You will never be bored in New York City.
